This is a letter Al wrote to his Nephew David in 1965 when he was in the hospital for three weeks after breaking his leg playing football.

Oct. 25, 1965
Dear Fallen Warrior,
We were all surprised to learn that you were in the hospital… and pregnant no less. Certainly, an unusual turn of events, but I suppose it has to do with all that radiation in the air…
Well, anyway gimpy, you can always go out for the debating team where body contact should be with members of the opposite sex who are visiting for the weekend….
Marc who has always been a coward reports that he has made the Jayvee ping pong squad and this is an achievement. Originally his ambition was merely to make the solitaire team.
The real athlete in our family (outside of me with my lighting reflexes and incredible footwork) is Nicole Mermaid Levin…. Like your sister Miriam she is an aquanaut… and can swim faster than most people can run…. When the flipper series runs out on TV, Nicole has had an offer to do one called “Nipper”. Really, she’s a pretty swift swimmer and she is training religiously
